The British Embassy is currently looking to recruit a Residence Manager, Indonesian based staff salary band 2, who meets that description to join our dynamic team.
This is a demanding role, managing a financial budget and a team of 3 Indonesian staff. The Residence has a busy programme of high profile events and you will be responsible for everything: from guaranteeing impeccable service at VIP dinners to ensuring regular operation, maintenance and cleaning of the entire Residence and its furniture and equipment. You may also be required to assist with the planning and delivery of other Embassy-related functions and events.
Residence Manager (LE2)
Main Duties and Responsibilities:- To manage the residence staff, making the best use of time and resources, including planning work programmes and timesheets, and all line management responsibilities e.g. appraisals, training, etc;
- To ensure the smooth running of the residence and of events held in the Residence, and other Embassy-related events as required.
- To be main point of contact between the residence and the Embassy Management Team;
- To make sure the residence is fit for purpose and that stocks and equipment are properly maintained;
- China, silverware, linen, etc are kept in good condition,
- Inventories are kept up to date,
- Equipment works and problems are promptly reported to the Embassy Management Team responsible.
- To plan and manage events, liaising with the Social Secretary and other colleagues, and helping in person, as necessary:
- Arranging extra staff as needed
- Advising use of facilities
- Liaising with outside contractors
- To manage the Residence Imprest (petty cash), Internal finance system (Prism) requisitions and procurements: arrange payment of bills, maintain the Residence accounts and pay temporary staff;
- To manage the residence stocks of wine and other drinks, and other household provisions, delegating the latter as appropriate to the chef and other staff;
- To ensure that VIP and other guests are well looked after.
- An excellent communicator, fluent in Indonesian and English (spoken and written);
- Strong organizational skills
- Able to work with people all levels;
- Experienced in both budget management and managing Indonesian domestic/catering staff;
- Flexible, resilient under pressure and decisive with a proven track record of delivering results to a high standard within tight deadlines;
- Personal drive and the ability to be a self-starter as well as a team player;
- Committed to the highest standards of service and good management of staff.
- Willing to start the employment with a fixed two-year direct contract.
- Ready to work immediately in the Central Jakarta area;
- Have a university degree from a reputable institution, ideally in hospitality management;.
- At least 4 years’ managerial experience in property management for a similar style of organization is required;
- Candidates who have international experiences, or who have worked closely with expatriates/diplomats, are preferred;
- Have a strong passion for the hospitality field;
- Computer literate and familiar with MS Office.
