Komnas HAM is an independent agency whose position on par with other state agencies that carry out assessment work, research, extension, monitoring, and mediation of human rights.

Mission

• Improve the performance of all elements of the organization National Human Rights Commission;

• Promote the establishment and implementation of policies based on human rights and social justice (social justice);
• Strengthen awareness of the state apparatus and civil society on the importance of the protection and fulfillment of human rights;
• Develop and streamline cooperation network in the local, national, regional, and international stakeholders (stakeholders) in the framework of protection, promotion and enforcement of human rights in Indonesia.

At first, the National Human Rights Commission was established by Presidential Decree No. 50 of 1993 on the National Commission on Human Rights. Since 1999 the existence of Komnas HAM is based on the Act, ie Act No. 39 of 1999 which also establish the existence, purpose, functions, membership, principles, completeness and duties and authority of Komnas HAM.

In addition to such authorities, according to Law no. 39, 1999, Komnas HAM also authorized to conduct investigations into violations of human rights with the issuance of Law No. weight. 26 of 2000 challenged the Court of Human Rights. Under Law no. Law 26/2000 on Human Rights Court, Komnas HAM is the agency authorized to investigate violations of human rights by weight. In conducting this inquiry the Commission may establish an ad hoc team consisting of the Commission on Human Rights and public constituents.

Komnas HAM is based on Law Number 40 Year 2008 on the Elimination of Racial and Ethnic Discrimination, get additional powers of oversight. Where supervision is a series of actions conducted by Komnas HAM in order to evaluate the policy of both central and regional government are conducted periodically or incidental by monitoring, looking for facts, assess in order to seek and find the presence or absence of racial and ethnic discrimination are followed up with recommendations.

NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION invites CITIZENS TO BE A MEMBER OF INDONESIA KOMNASHAM PERIOD 2012 - 2017

WITH THE REQUIREMENTS AS FOLLOWS:

1. Indonesian citizen with at least 35 years of age.
2. Educated at least a Bachelor's degree.
3. Experience as judges, prosecutors, police, lawyers or other legal profession, religious leaders, community leaders, activists of non-governmental organizations, academic universities, journalists and human rights defenders.
4. Dedicated and have high integrity, professional, live the ideals of justice cored state law and respect for human rights.
5. Never committed a disgraceful act on the issue of human rights, and never involved corruption.
6. Knowledgeable and experienced promotion and protection of persons or groups who violated human rights.
7. If elected as Member of National Human Rights Commission, not concurrently be willing to state officials or state officials under legislation, directors and employees, directors and employees of state owned enterprises / regional, state officials, political party officials, administrators of non-governmental organizations engaged in human rights or other professions such as doctors, accountants, lawyers, notaries, and the official maker of land deed or other time-consuming job.

Prospective Members of the Commission shall submit:

• Recommendation of 2 (two) organizations or community leaders who are competent in the field of human rights.
• Recent passport photo size 4 X 6 4 (four) pieces.

Selections include:

1. Administrative selection.
2. Assessment profile.
3. Public input about the candidates.
4. Interview
5. Medical tests (physical and mental) and the psychological test for candidates selected members of the National Human Rights Commission

Conditions:

• File the petition as a candidate member of the National Human Rights Commission which has been sent to the Selection Committee will not be refunded.
• During the selection process, applicants are free of charge.
• Only applicants who meet the administrative requirements that will be called to follow the next selection stage.
