Field Systems Engineer - NAM

Danfoss, a global market leader in HVAC/R, Water and Motion Controls, has openings for a few Field Systems Engineers (FSE) in its Danfoss CC Factory Direct, Global Key Account NAM organization.

The mission of this position is to support the Global & Regional Key Account & Sales Managers and their overall business development plans by providing component and system expertise, trouble-shooting capability and overall support in the selection, qualification and application of all Danfoss compressors for the designated direct North American accounts. This position is seen as a vital link in realizing the overall sales objectives for the region. The FSE will ensure that critical application knowledge obtained in the field is communicated back into our factories to both improve our existing products and help in the development of new product platforms.

Critical Tasks/Responsibilities

Support the Global & Regional Key Account & Sales Managers business development plans:
  • Participate in/perform product and training presentations including new product introductions.
  • Assist in any related technical, quality or sales activity to support the overall business objective.
  • Follow on product samples.
  • Develop technical sales aids to support the value selling proposition
  • Frequent customers visits to improve overall visibility.
  • Identify the critical sales factors from a technical standpoint, in customer projects and propose/drive activities to achieve them.
Ensure the proper selection, application and qualification of Danfoss compressors.
  • Obtain a proper understanding of the application and assist in the product selection process directly with the customers.
  • Coordinate technical decisions and activities with Danfoss factories, Sales Engineers and internal technical resources as required.
  • Ensure customers have all proper product selection tools and literature.
  • Assist in qualification testing at customer’s laboratory facilities as required.
  • Coordinate & align all activities with appropriate GKAMs, RKAMs & RSMs.
Ensure Danfoss compressors are being properly handled and installed at the customer factory level
  • Regular visits to customer production lines (more frequent during product start-up/ramp-up phase).
  • Provide routine product and installation troubleshooting support.
  • Coordinate all quality non-conformities with Regional Quality Coordinators to ensure products are returned to Danfoss factories for proper evaluation.
  • Follow and track activities regarding customer claims on RA products (non quality related).
Provide customer field support
  • Assist in system start-ups.
  • Provide trouble-shooting and problem solving of installations.
Coordinate technical matters
  • Participate in regional/ global Application/Quality forums.
  • Participate in factory visits/meetings.
  • Coordination required with technical factory resources, Quality Coordinators, Regional Account Managers, Regional Sales Managers and BU GKAM’s.
  • Interact with factories to expedite answers to customer claims (i.e. inspection reports)
Basic Minimum Skills Required
  • 5+ years experience in HVAC/R.
  • Bachelor in Engineering required. (BS in Mechanical preferred over Electrical). We will consider applicants who have 10-15 years experience working in HVAC engineering in lieu of a 4-year engineering degree.
  • Strong coordination & communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial as well as strong initiative & ability to lead/drive process improvements
  • Relationship builder and team player skills in a global environment
  • Ability to balance the pressure & demands inherent to KA (CRM, project management, technical discussions, etc), including sound judgment in handling important situations
  • Ability to help advance our market share, against strong competition
  • Is required to secure & maintain confidentiality of Danfoss & Customer projects
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Experience with MS Office is required and experience with SAP/BW/CRM is desirable
  • Experience with Key Account Management and business processes and tools (ex. Danfoss Sales Program) are desirable.
  • Global experience desirable.
  • Willing and able to travel regionally and internationally. (Approximately 50% travel required)
