"Bintang" was established on March 17, 1955 by several prominent national businessmen, most of which also were the perpetrators of physical revolution leading up to independence in 1945. They are Ali Algadri, Idham, Ismet, Wibowo, Soedarpo Sasrosatomo, Pang Lay Kim, Roestam Moenaf and Johan Koesman Radi.
Since November 29, 1989 stock "Bintang" has become a public company in which shares are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.
