The complex belongs to us in the Grasberg mine is one of the single producer of copper and gold in the world's largest, and contains copper reserves that can be taken of the largest in the world, besides the single largest gold reserves in the world. Grasberg is in the heart of an area which is very abundant mineral, where exploration activities are ongoing opportunities to continue to increase our reserves are long-lived.
Currently, PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) applying two mining techniques, namely open-pit or open mine using truck and shovel large electricity at the Grasberg mine. and techniques ambrukan or block-caving underground mine in Deep Ore Zone (DOZ).

Subsequently followed by the flotation process using a reagent, alcohol-based materials and lime, to separate the mineral concentrate containing copper, gold and silver, where the minerals are floated to the surface and taken away its surface (skimmed-off) as a final product. The rest of the rock that has no economic value settles at the bottom as tailings, and released through the river flows into the deposition area in the lowlands.
Concentrated in the form of slurry supplied from the mill to the plant at the port Amamapare drying, through a pipe along the 110 km. Concentrates that have been stored in the port Amamapare dried before being sold and shipped to smelting factories around the world.

We make adjustments to some of the indicators of 2007, which has been reported according to the GRI guidelines to compare the indicators on the same basis. As part of our transition in the years 2008/2009 to implement the ICMM Sustainable Development Framework, we also developed a process to identify risks and opportunities are important. In early 2009, our parent company Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc.. set goals and performance objectives that will be the reference of our report the following year.
